If you’ve been testing PaperMETAR, first, thank you! Second, you’ve likely told me that Quiz Mode is a bit too basic. I hear you! I originally shipped a simple version to get the ball rolling, but I’ve always envisioned something more comprehensive. It’s time to make that happen.

What’s Coming Next?

I’m working on a generator that parses the METAR to create context-aware multiple-choice questions. (A big thank you to the testers who suggested this specific approach!)

  • Here are the categories I’ve identified for the first phase:
  • Wind: Speed, Direction, and Gusts
  • Conditions: Visibility, Cloud Layers, and Altimeter
  • Analysis: Flight Category, Timezones, and Uncommon Abbreviations

The "User Account" Question

Right now, the plan is to implement random questions. Eventually, however, I want PaperMETAR to track your stats and help you improve on your weak points.

This brings me to a crossroads. I’ve tried my hardest to avoid requiring user accounts so far. But to save your long-term progress, a login system might finally be necessary. Is that a feature worth trading anonymity for? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
